Ferryman
- C. H., 21st April 2018
I committed to stop drinking alcohol, for a second and final time, in July, 2014. Having made this change while living with my parents, I then returned to start a new phase of living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne at the close of 2014.
Using the first month to reconnect, and clean-up my flat, I reflected upon the cupboards in my kitchen, and the monument to alcohol they had become; their roofs crammed with empty bottles.
Recognising that what they symbolised had changed, I felt a need to spill this transition into the streets, to put my empties into a public space that is part of my home. I wrote letters to strangers (on various topics), sealed them inside the bottles, and distributed them throughout the city.
